There are things that you can do to save money the next time you purchase an airline ticket. Planning ahead is a good way to find a low cost ticket. You want to use off peak hours to find a ticket that is lower than full price and most airlines vary there prices during these times.

You want to use the late night and early morning hours to get a good deal on airfare. During these off peak times the airlines lower prices so that they can sell more inventory. You want to search at several times before making a final purchase so that you can save the most money.

Planning early is also a great way to buy an airline ticket for less money. As the flight sells more and more seats the price goes up so if you buy early you will get a lower price. Make sure that you try to book your flight about 30 days early to get a good price.

Getting a low cost airline ticket is not hard to do but making a plan and working that plan will help you to be successful. You should also check to see if you have any mileage points because you may have enough to get a free ticket. Even if you are a little short you can buy a few miles and be on your way.

It used to be that you could buy a hidden city plane ticket and get it for less. Since 911 it is impossible to do this anymore because once you miss the last leg of the flight then they cancel the ticket. Using these techniques will help you to save money the next time you are looking at booking a flight.

I work as a flight attendant for a regional airline. In a couple weeks, I will celebrate my 3rd year at my job. To be honest, that 3 years has just flown (no pun intended) by. I guess the old cliche is true about finding something you love and do it and you’ll have a rich and rewarding life. I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world and meet many interesting and exciting people. I love it so much that I am able to fly about 120 hours per month consistently with no threat of “burn-out” anywhere on the horizon.

I think that what’s most exciting is that in spite of the media’s best efforts to bash and demean the industry we all love, the flying public (for the most part) is still fascinated by the aviation industry. When working and deadheading, I still come across people on the jets who are interested in entering the airline industry. My article is intended to help those who are interested in a career as a flight attendant.

My entry into the aviation industry happened by pure accident. I grew up loving airplanes and the industry and enjoyed every time I entered an airplane. However, I heeded the reasonable route and went to college for business. After college, I went the business sales route. I worked in retail to support myself through college. After college, I moved up to retail management and eventually to corporate sales. I did quite well in the industry, but economic changes in the early to mid 2000’s caused me to jump from sales job to sales job.

Well, my professional life changed in Feb 2007. The company I worked for unexpectedly downsized me and I found myself looking for a new job. My room mate had a friend who worked for a regional airline and she was interested in being a flight attendant. After my down-size, I had some fun for about a month enjoying my time off. However, I’ve always been a work-a-holic. Eventually my desire to work and my need to make money became intense. After a month of unemployment, I became bored. Her excitement for being an FA, my life-long fascination with aviation, and my desire to get back to work served as a catalyst for the perfect storm. We had worked together in one of my previous sales jobs. She told me she was going the following week for an interview for an up and coming regional airline. I asked if she’d mind if I’d go with her. She was totally shocked and asked “Are you serious???” I quickly answered YES. I figured that after a month of unemployment, this would be perfect. I could earn a living better than unemployment comp, get travel benefits, and have flexible time to interview for jobs. I interviewed and was quickly hired.

I showed up for my first day of flight attendant training and something shocking happened. As the training continued, I found myself more and more drawn to aviation. As each week of training progressed, I found myself more and more passionate about the industry. I exceeded all expectations during the training. Once I easily passed all of my training, and went for my final test IOE (that’s the inflight on-the-job exam). After spending 4 days on the line, I was hooked for life. I realized that aviation was in my blood and I wanted to spend the rest of my life associated with aviation. After a 20 year search, I had FINALLY found my passion. I loved it the first time I worked a flight on my IOE and I love it as much 3 years later.

Now, many are probably saying “This story is warming, but doesn’t give me direction towards an aviation career.” You couldn’t be more wrong. Don’t worry, I will be providing you with specifics about what’s required for an aviation career in later articles. My current point is that a career IS possible especially if the drive and passion are there. Right now, the economy won’t permit you to charge into a Mainline airline and begin traveling the world. However, the regionals are a good start (and the only ones hiring at this time domestically-and a good indicator if an aviation lifestyle is right for you). Also, don’t worry about the myths of age limits. I’ve worked with people from 19 to 60. It also serves to tell you that it doesn’t matter what your work back ground is. If you possess an intelligence to learn and (most important) a passion for aviation, you can also realize your dream of entering the world of aviation.

Everyone wants to buy a cheap economy class ticket and get bumped up and upgraded to business class or first class. Who doesn’t want more comfort, more legroom, better service and the lounge access which come as standard for first and business class passengers. The current generation of flat seats in premium cabins of major carriers makes flying long-haul much more comfortable than ever before.

Every so often airlines will give out free upgrades for operational reasons. Here are a few basic tips for increasing your chances of getting that elusive upgrade and rubbing shoulder with the first class jet-set.

1. Become a member of your airline’s frequent flyer program. If you can reach ‘elite status’ then you will greatly improve your likelihood of getting upgraded if there is any availability on the day you fly. Airlines will give upgrade priority to their top-tier members.

2. Avoid flying from your carrier’s main hub if it is a large airport. You will be competing against masses of frequent flyer members so your chance of a free upgrade is minimal. For example it is difficult to get upgraded with British Airways if flying out of London Heathrow – you will be up against many top-tier BA ‘Gold’ members and possibly a few above-status ‘Premier’ VIPs as well.

3. Consider choosing one of the smaller frequent flyer programs with fewer members to reduce competition. The biggest programs in Europe are those of Lufthansa, AirFrance-KLM and British Airways with literally millions of members. US programs are massive – the top 3, United, American and Delta probably have well over 100 million members between them! A good option is to join a quality Asian based carrier like Thai Airlines or Cathay Pacific or smaller programs like Alaska Mileage Plan or bmi Diamond Club.

4. Book a flight that is likely to have a full economy section. Try to fly on wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 777 with plenty of available first class and business class seats. A few days before your flight, check the availability of business and first class seats by doing a pretend booking on your airline’s website or use one of the class availability tools on the web.

5. Pay for a full fare economy or premium economy ticket on your flight which will also give you upgrade priority from the airline.

6. There is no harm in dressing well in ’smart casual’ or business attire on the off-chance you are pre-upgraded and the airline is happy you will blend into its premium cabin. Note however, this is not a serious upgrade strategy today – it may have worked in the 1970s!

7. If you really are serious about flying in business class on a budget then you should invest in the Ultimate Airfares & Upgrades Guide. This shows you how to find great worldwide business class and first class airfare deals, how to get lounge access for less, how to accelerate your way to elite status and much, much more.

If you fly regularly, or even occasionally, then you know that air travel has gotten more expensive in recent years. Besides the price of tickets, there are now a host of additional fees and charges from baggage to meals (or even snacks), to printing your ticket. So, in a difficult economy, what are the best ways to get a good price on airfare?

First, when you are planning a vacation, start looking for tickets several months ahead of time. Compare prices at the online booking website such as Hotwire, Travelocity, and Expedia. Don’t forget airline-specific websites such as Southwest since these will sometimes offer unadvertised specials that aren’t available with other booking websites. If you have a booking website that you typically use to find airfare bargains, then consider signing up for an alert service with that website. Alert services work by recording your preferences for flight times, destinations, and prices, then e-mailing you if a deal appears that matches your criteria. These notification services can be a great way to get a good deal on airfare without having to manually check prices every few days.

If you have a general idea of when you would like to travel, you will get the best price by being flexible about your travel times and dates. Traveling on the weekends is often the most expensive, but purchasing tickets on Tuesdays or Wednesday will often get a deep discount on the price. This may not be possible in all situations, but if you have some leeway with your vacation time you should consider flying in the middle of the week instead of on a Friday or Saturday. You will also save money by being flexible with your travel times. Flights that leave very early in the morning or late at night are often less expensive than flights during the middle of the day. This may be inconvenient or even impossible if you are traveling with small children, but reconsidering the time of day that you fly can definitely shave a few dollars off of the cost of a plane ticket.

Thirdly, if you fly often you should consider signing up for a frequent flyer program. Many credit cards offer these programs, as do various airlines. Although the terms and fees vary widely by program, most allow you to cash in points for discounts on airline tickets or upgrades. These may not be worth the hassle if you only fly once or twice each year, but if you are a frequent flyer you might find that you get your money’s worth out of these programs.

Lastly, do everything that you can to minimize your costs and fees. Many airlines now charge a baggage fee for each bag that you bring on the plane. If this is the case, pack as lightly as possible or don’t check bags at all. Food costs have gone up, so bring your own food or drinks on the plane. Bring a book or portable DVD player rather than being tempted to pay for headphones so that you can plug in to the in-flight movie. All of these tips will help you to get a bargain price the next time you fly.

Many air travelers wonder what exactly are the safest airlines to use when they travel. Here are the winners according to several criteria:

Safest Airlines

Likely the most important criteria for a safe airline is the amount of fatalities the airline has over a period of recent years. This may be the best way to judge the record of maintenance but also of personnel, including pilots and engineers.

Qantas is a name well known to those interested in airline safety. Based out of Sydney, Australia, Qantas safety rating has plummeted as of late, but still ranks fairly high among other airlines of the world in terms of overall safety.

Other airlines considered to be most safe in terms of least passenger fatalities include America West, EasyJet, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, North American Airlines, Southwest and Virgin Atlantic. In addition, many smaller, regional carriers are among the safest airlines including Ireland’s national carrier, Aer Lingus, Air Europe, Air Jamaica, Austria Airlines, BahamasAir, Canadian North, Corsair, Estonian Air, Eurowings, EVA Air, Finnair, Frontier Airlines, Fujian Airlines, Icelandair, Midway Airlines, National Jet Italia, Novair, Ozark Airlines, Portugalia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Sahara Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Spanair, Syrian Air, Sun Country Airlines, TransAsia Airways, Tunisair, Ukraine International, Uzbekistan Airways and WestJet Airlines.

It’s interesting to note that many smaller carriers may have a safer reputation than larger carriers simply because of the vastly larger amount of flights that larger carriers have each day. Quite simply, the more flights, the more chance that something will go wrong.

Most Secure Airline

El Al airlines, Israel’s national airlines, is considered to be the world’s most secure airline company. This is due to their tight security measures and protocols used to prevent terrorism and hijackings on their planes. Founded in 1948, El Al airlines has a fleet of over 30 planes. El Al has prevented and stopped numerous attacks on their airlines from terrorists and has also managed to stop hijackers. El Al scrutinizes and interviews every passenger prior to boarding. Also, plain clothes security officers as well as uniformed officers patrol the areas where passengers gather to board.

Worst Airlines

In addition to safe airlines, there are also known bad airlines. These include Indonesia Airlines, Ukraine’s Volare Air, Phuket Airlines from Thailand and North Korea’s Air Kyo. The criteria used for worst airlines is the number of aircraft lost, so it’s a good idea to stay away from these airlines.

When you’re looking to take your cat, or dog on a vacation, you’re probably going to most likely need a pet carrier to take them on the plane, or put them in the cargo hold. If you don’t already have an airline approved carrier, it’s essential that you get one that you can take on the plane. If you don’t have one, and you bring one that’s not allowed, you will find that you will be turned away at the gate, which is something that you don’t want to happen!

If you’ve been doing your research, you’ve probably come across the Teafco brand and let me tell you why it’s one of the best airline carriers on the market today. Hopefully after you read the review, you may want to consider purchasing it for your next airline ride.

Price: The price for this carrier is relatively reasonable. Remember, you’re going to want to get something that’s comfortable for your animal. If you purchase something too cheap, it may be uncomfortable for them. This is something that you don’t want. You can grab one for less than $80 easily online.

Design: I love the sleek design. It’s relatively small and it’s very easy to tote around. You don’t want something that’s made of metal and is impossible to lug around. What you’re going to find is that these type of carriers weigh a ton, and are going to take a lot of energy away from you.

Great fabric: Again, this is a nicely made product. It’s made of denier nylon fabric, as well as dual layered mesh windows, allowing your pet to get the proper airflow, which is crucial when flying 30,000 feet in the air.

An abundance of promotions and special offers for cheap flights to Australia has made it much more affordable to vacation Down Under. Airfare to Australia, especially for travel in low season – the month of May and August through mid-September – is priced favorably compared to other long-haul destinations like Asia and eastern Europe.

Non-stop flights to Australia depart from Los Angeles and San Francisco. If you live in other parts of the US, you’ll have to first fly to California.

In the past few years, flights to Australia have increased as existing airlines added flights and new airlines began service on this route. This is good news for travelers – increased competition brought the prices of flights to Australia down.

When searching for the cheapest flights to Australia, you’ll find that airline consolidators usually have the lowest pricing. But, when the airlines are trying to fill the seats on their planes and offer a short-term special promotion, their prices can’t be beat. Always check pricing on the airlines that fly to Australia before buying your tickets.

Airlines that fly to Australia:

Qantas

Qantas, the airline of Australia, offers the largest aircraft and the most flights. With daily non-stop flights from Los Angeles and less frequent flights from San Francisco, Qantas flies non-stop to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Qantas offers code-share flights operated by American Airlines from many cities in the United States to connect to the flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Qantas’ website frequently features low season flight deals, promotions that include a “free” flight to a city within Australia, and special offers on the Aussie AirPass. If you are an American Airlines Aadvantage member, you can earn mileage points by flying to and within Australia on Qantas.

VAustralia

VAustralia, the newest addition to the Virgin Airlines Group, flies non-stop from Los Angeles to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Connecting flights are available from other US cities on Virgin America and Delta. VAustralia also offers a few flights that depart from San Francisco.

Their planes on the Australia route are new, custom decorated with an Australian theme and feature comfortable seating for the long flight. VAustralia’s website keeps up with the special offers Qantas has for cheap flights to Australia, but VAustralia does not offer specials for flight packages that include other destinations within Australia.

Delta Airlines

Delta began flying to Sydney in 2009. Shortly after they began service on this route, Delta entered a code-sharing agreement with the Virgin Airlines Group, VAustralia, for international flights, and its sister airline, VirginBlue, for domestic flights within Australia.

Delta SkyMiles members with Club access can use VirginBlue’s luxurious airport lounges when traveling within Australia on VirginBlue or internationally on Delta or VAustralia.

United Airlines

United flies to Sydney from Los Angles and San Francisco, with connections from other cities in the United States. Infrequently United’s website will promote specials sales on these flights. United does not fly within Australia.

Other Airlines

Air New Zealand flies from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Australia, but the flights stop in Auckland first. This adds several hours to the total flight time to Australia. Their pricing is very competitive.

Several Asian airlines also offer multi-stop flights to Australia. These flights tend to be much more expensive than the non-stop flights on Qantas, VAustralia, Delta or United.

Flying East

Travelers, for whom airplane comfort and luxury is more important than price and a non-stop long-haul flight, should consider flying east to reach Australia. For the most part, flying east is more expensive – but you can combine a visit to Singapore (Singapore Air has a daily non-stop flight from Newark to Singapore) or Dubai (Emirates offers two daily non-stop flights from JFK and non-stop flights from Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco) with your vacation in Australia.

Years ago, Sydney Eyre spent six weeks driving around Australia, exploring the small towns, meeting the two and four-legged locals and sampling the fruits of the vine. Her trip left her with zany wonderful memories and a passion to return Down Under. She is planning her next trip and is on a quest to find the best deals for cheap flights to Australia.

2010 is the year of saving money, and if you’re going to be going on some trips that require airline travel, I wanted to give you some great tips on how you can get cheap airline tickets, and maybe even a free ticket! It’s really not that hard to save, and as long as you follow a few of these tips, you can really can save big!

Always use a comparison engine

The first thing that you want to do is always use a comparison engine. Places like Kayak, and others are great for doing this. What you can do is simply input the information, such as when you want to travel, where you’re coming from, etc. After it’s all inputted, they will find you the cheapest rate. If you’re not loyal to an airline, you can find a very reasonably priced ticket.

Consider an airline credit card

With an airline credit card, you can save big time. Many of the cards out there today will give you a free airline ticket just for signing up. Regardless, when you spend a dollar on that card, you will generally get a minimum of 1 airline mile. Once you build up enough airline miles, you can cash them in for a free airline tickets, and more.

These are the top ways to find the best deals, as well as getting a hold of free airline tickets. You will want to compare the tickets, look for deals online with these search engines, and just do research. What you will find is that there’s no magic formula, but rather you should be able to get a few bucks off by trying.

We all enjoy going on a vacation because it is a wonderful way to relax and take our minds off of work and other of life’s stresses. When our vacation includes flying, we want our flight to be comfortable and enjoyable. The seat we book will play a big part in our comfort. Fortunately, there are things we can do to make sure we get a good seat. Below are a number of tips to choosing the best seat when you book your airline tickets:

1. To book a better seat, make sure you buy your seat early because the closer you get to your flight date, fewer seats will be available. You want to make sure you have a good selection of seats to choose so you should book at least 21 days ahead of your scheduled flight. As well, many booking engines and airline websites provide a seat availability map so you can compare seats to find the best one for your needs.

2. If comfort is more important to you than price, especially if you are on a long flight, don’t make the price the most important factor when booking your seat. If you pay a little more for your ticket, you can get features and services that make your flight more enjoyable. For instance, better seats, power port, and a better entertainment system may cost a bit more, but the flight will be much more comfortable. As well, several airlines will charge extra for a seat with extra legroom. You may also be able to get a more comfortable seat. For instance, you may be able to book a seat in economy with extra legroom for a modest supplementary fee. If you know exactly what seat you want, be specific when you book your flight.

3. If you are looking for more room, book a bulkhead seat. These are the seats located directly behind barriers such as a curtain or wall. Bulkhead seats tend to be roomier, especially the leg room. These seats are often chosen by people with small children and infants where a bassinet is required.

4. It is important to arrive at the airport early or you may lose your seat. As well, when you arrive, confirm your seat when you check in. This will ensure you get your seat, or you may be able to switch to a more comfortable seat. Most airlines will allow you to check in online 24 hours before the scheduled flight. When you arrive at your gate, ask if any new seats have opened up.

5. Seat pitch and width can vary from airline to airline, therefore, you should compare seat pitch and width dimensions. Use an airline website’s seat comparison chart to help you locate the seats with the best pitch and width. Make sure the chart you look at corresponds to your plane type.

One of the main reasons why we go on a vacation is to have fun and relax. When your vacation includes flying, you want to make sure your flight is also enjoyable. Choosing the best seat will help ensure a relaxing and comfortable flight.

In recent times, Ghana has improved in different sectors, which increased its credibility around the world. Launching Ghana International Airline was the greatest step for the Ghanaians to gain world recognition. It was a combine effort by Ghana Government and confidential international investors in 2004 and was declared a national airline in 2005. It filed from Accra Kotoka International airport to Landon Gatwick airport for the first time. In addition to this, seasonal flights were started to Johannesburg in 2006 and then to Germany’s Dusseldorf international Airport in 2008. GIA employs not more than 200 hundred employees but their devotion and competencies are more enough to improve quality.

GIA facilitates its customers by providing flights from Accra to London so if you are in London then you can easily get cheap flights to Accra with GIA. For United States travelers it has united with Continental Airlines. From Accra to any city of United States, you will be provided with Continental Airlines through London Gatwick Airport. However, GIA offers you low budgeted flights but still you can expect high level of services to have a comfortable voyage.

Ghanaian Government is doing a lot of effort to increase the level of tourism in the country that is why recently (3 to 4 months ago) a meeting was held between the officials of Ghana Tourist Board and Ghana International airlines. Both companies combined for promoting tourism in Ghana. No country can promote its tourism effectively without the involvement of country’s national carrier. Without offering cheap flights with high quality services, a country cannot attract tourists. A tourist must see the extreme level of hospitality right from the air so, in this concern, GIA holds an important seat. The Ghana Tourists Board was interested to see good response from the GIA side and the most intriguing thing is, GIA has proved itself in any task related to the project.

Madam Gifty Annan Myers, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana International Airline, stated that the management of GIA is quite happy to hear that. We are highly motivated to play our role in an effective manner. The airline is devoted to its work to keep the flag of Ghana high up in the sky, she added more. There were several issues regarding stakeholders but the officials of GIA presented this idea to all stakeholders, in a beneficial way, to get the interest of all stakeholders.

However, Ghanaian Government faced many downfalls in recent years but the Ghana International Airline kept its nerves cool and did not raise airfares. Its customers showed their full confidence in the services of GIA that’s why the airline has succeeded to get a unique position among other airlines. Travelers should not expect any sort of miss happening like delaying or rescheduling because of GIA’s total quality management. The management of GIA listens to its customers in a friendly environment and tries to solve their problem with the best possible solutions.
